There’s no telling when inspiration will strike – and it can even get you all fired up looking at the bananas in the grocery store. No telling. But why is it harder to chase it down when you’re sitting at your desk trying to work? Here are five ways to help you get creative.
A lot goes around about freelancing, and most freelancers work from a home office. Or their coffee table. The great thing about the mobile, wireless internet is being able to work anytime, anywhere. Here’s ten reasons why it’s great to work for yourself, on your own time.
Since I began writing HTML ten years ago, I hated using target=“blank” in my markup. Coupled with the fact that if you’re using a strict DOCTYPE the target method is invalid anyway, I began looking for an easy way to open only external links in a new window (and I realize there are pros and cons of doing this). Using this jQuery technique, each link is tested to check if it’s local or not, or alternatively in the second method only opening links in a new window if they are children of a given element.
Last week I received word back from the Library of Congress that ThisIsInspired has been registered as a periodical and assigned an ISSN number. (you may have noticed the slightly different look to the site, including the number under the logo type) We’ve also added a custom link shortening service.
My mom sent me this in an email today, and it’s so cool I have to post it. A group of people in Slovenia accomplishes something you’d consider almost impossible (and with the instruments so ordinary and everyday you’d never think they’re instruments). ThisIsInspired has been getting plugged with spam galore. Granted, we have Akismet installed and it prevents and sorts most of the spam that comes our way — but there’s an even more root way to prevent spammers from sending their junk in the first place.
